A periodic function is a function which repeats over regular intervals, or, mathematically,

$f(x + T) = f(x)$

for the entire domain of f. T is the fundamental period; the multiples of T are referred to as the periods of the function. The most well known and important periodic functions are the trigonometric functions, all with a period of 2π.
